South Korea 2022 Day 8: Busan - Seoul

 DAY 8: 3 DEC 2022
Myeongdong shopping streets

Our last day in Busan!
We only had one last attraction to visit in Busan before leaving for Seoul.

As Running Man fans, we had to try the thematic experience here in South Korea.
We wandered around Seomyeon before heading to the Running Man theme park which is conveniently located near our hotel and opens at 11am.

Each adult ticket costs 16,000 krw.
You will be given a wrist band with a chip embedded to facilitate your gameplays and earning of points.
There were pay-per-use lockers at a corner and we stored our jackets and belongings for 1,000 krw.
There were bigger lockers which cost 2,000 krw.

Before entering the theme park, you have to choose your difficulty level.
We went with normal and some games were rather challenging at this level!
We tapped our wristbands on the R sensors and off we went into the theme park.
The entire experience is limited to 1 hour and it starts the moment you choose your difficulty level at the entrance.

Challenging marble game

The park had 3 different sections with about 5 - 7 games in each section.
To move from section to section, you can either go through the maze and collect points along the way or go via the passage at the side.

Checking our points

There is a station for you to check your points.

There were some games which had physical elements such as jogging, jumping and hanging in the air.
Some games had cognitive elements such as problem solving and matching.

Completion badge

Our 1 hour flew by as we hopped from game to game.
Although we did not clock enough points to get the big prize, each of us took home a free running man badge pin.

After the thematic experience, we were a little hungry and made our way to lunch!

Egg drop is the Korean version of Eggslut.

I got the garlic bacon cheese sandwich set while Zhi Sheng got the Mr Egg sandwich set.
Each set came with a drink and hash brown.

The sandwiches tasted as good as Eggslut but it is way cheaper.

Thereafter, we headed back to our hotel to collect our stored baggage and took a train to Busan station.
Having heard that the KTX tickets often sell out during peak seasons, I bought our tickets prior to our trip on https://letskorail.com/.
We booked the 3.01pm KTX to Seoul and it costs 118,800 krw in total.
I could not select our seats but we were still seated together.

When we entered, we did not spot any luggage storage areas between the cabins.
Zhi Sheng helped to place our luggage on the overhead racks instead.
During our ride, a train staff conducted random ticket checks.
We did not get checked at all.

The ride was smooth and we arrived at Seoul station at 5.30pm.
We dragged our luggage to the metro and transferred to line 4 which took us to Myeongdong station.
Upon tapping out of the gantry using our T-money cards, we climbed 5 flights of stairs at exit 10 before getting to the ground level.
We stayed at Ibis Styles Ambassador Hotel Myeongdong which was 3 minutes walk away from exit 10.
Our room was located on the 17th floor!

Anyway, after checking in, we made our way to our dinner place in Myeongdong because I figured it will be crowded since it is a Saturday.
True enough, the lines were snaking.

Queue outside Myeongdong Kyoja

Myeongdong Kyoja is a famous restaurant which serves noodles and dumplings.
I first visited this restaurant in 2013 and now I am back!
The restaurant has 3 dining levels and upon reaching the entrance at level 1, the staff will re-direct you to another queue which is tagged to a specific dining level.
We were re-directed to the level 2 queue and after queuing for at least 20 minutes, we got a table!

Korean meat dumplings

Kalguksu

We ordered dumplings (11,000 krw) and kalguksu (10,000 krw) to share as the portions are huge!
Both dishes were good and seasoned well.
The kalguksu also had dumplings in it!

After dinner, we walked around the shopping streets which was bustling with people.
We spotted a HBAF store and bought quite a few items:
5 packs of almonds for 20,000 krw
1 party pack consisting of 30 small sachets for 12,800 krw.

I have tried the injeolmi almond and wow, it was so good!
They are essentially almonds coated with korean muah chee.

Injeolmi bingsu

We then made our way to a famous bingsu chain called Sulbing.
The bingsu place had 2 dining levels and the self-order machine was at level 2.
I ordered my favourite bingsu flavour, Injeolmi!
So good that I kept choking on the powder, hah.

And that marks the end of day 8!
