Perth 2022 Day 5: Hutt Lagoon

 DAY 5: 13 JUN 2022

Hutt Lagoon

It's day 5!
Initially, we planned to go up to Monkey Mia but it was another 4.5 hours drive just to get there and see dolphins and coastal formations.
We felt that those attractions do not justify the additional 9 hour drive, so we will start to drive back down towards Perth today.

We had a pleasant surprise outside our room this morning.
Kangaroos!
Kangaroos were the reasons why we booked this resort instead of the resort next door and I totally forgot about it until Michelle spotted them when she went to the car to get something.

We checked out of our hotel and drove to the jetty area for a pelican feeding session!
The pelican feeding happens every day at 8.45am and it is free.

Kalbarri pelican feeding

The feeders will come armed with fishes which the audiences will get a chance to feed the pelicans!
Majority of the audiences were families with young children.
This pelican feeding is indeed a good experience for the kids as they get to go up close to the pelicans and feed them!

After hanging around for the pelican feeding, we made our way to Hutt lagoon which is a pink lake.
The lagoon is located South of Kalbarri and it is a 40 minutes drive away.
We arrived at around 10.30am and there were no cars at the parking bay!

Just walk down the sand and you will be right next to the lake.
As the time started getting closer to noon time, the colour of the lake started to become more pinkish due to the sunlight!

And of course, we snapped a hell lot of photos while we were there.

This photo was taken by Phoebe and it is horribly taken.
I look like a freaking giant and Michelle looks like a dwarf.
But I have to post this because this photo is just hilarious.

After spending 30 to 45 mins at the lake, we decided to head back to the car.
When we made it back up to the parking bay, we got a shock...
Spot our car, because it is the odd one out haha!
When we arrived, there were no designated lot markings on the ground.
So, Michelle just parked the car at the corner.
The rest of the cars just parked neatly all in one row hahaha.
Embarrassing and hilarious at the same time.

Anyway, we drove back to Geraldton to get lunch because that is the only lively town along our route.
We decided to head to Dome cafe to have brunch!
We were really lucky to get a parking lot just in front of the cafe which gave us 2 hours of free parking.
A short while later, there were no parking lots available in the vicinity!

Dome cafe was beautifully decorated and it was just a stone throw away from the beach.
We were told to just grab any seats available and order at the counter.
The prices were normal brunch prices ranging from 17 to 24 AUD.

I was the only one who did not order brunch food!
I ordered a plate of beef lasagna as it looked really good in the photo.

After lunch, we hung around the breakwater before heading to Woolworths to do some grocery shopping for tonight's dinner!
And then off we went to our final destination for today, Jurien Bay.

Rainbows every day

Throughout our road trip, we saw at least 1 rainbow each day because it was drizzling from time to time.
The rainbows were all really pretty.

After a long drive, we finally arrived at Jurien Bay Tourist Park, our home for the night.
We stayed at a tourist park during our Sydney road trip and we knew it was for caravans too.
The tourist park was pretty neat despite having many house units and caravan areas.
We paid S$190 for our house unit which came with a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms!

Jurien Bay Jetty

As it was early, we took a walk to the jetty to watch the sunset.
The tourist park was situated close to the beach and we used the side gate to get to the beach.
Unfortunately, it was cloudy that evening and the sunset was not amazing.

Sunset and Moonrise

Michelle, being the adventurous one, wore her Taobao booties to dip her feet in the water.
Guess what...
This polar bear said the water was freezing cold.
And who suggested that we go snorkelling at Rottnest Island back in SG?
That same polar bear.
And Phoebe and I stupidly agreed to this horrible plan.
Glad she took a dip because Phoebe and I didn't bother bringing our snorkelling gear to Rottnest.

We headed back to our accomodation and started prepping our dinner.
I spotted the same salmon fillet promotion previously on day 2: 4 fillets for 13 AUD.
And we had to get it!
We also bought a pack of mini white potatoes for 2 AUD, a pack of salad (1 portion), brie and instant mushroom and barley soup.

We kept the butter provided by Waldeck heights apartment and it is now being put to good use!
The kitchen also came us sachets of salt and pepper and we used them to season our food.
I loved our dinner that night!
We also had chobani yoghurt which was on offer.
Phoebe was stuffed as usual haha

And this sadly marked the end of our last night on the road trip!
