Bali 2018 Day 2: Nusa Penida

DAY 2: 1 SEP 2018
Kelingking Beach
A day of adventure awaits us!
We checked out really early as our fast boat to Nusa Penida leaves at 8.15am.
The hotel staff got a Blue Bird taxi for us and off we went to Sanur Beach.
The metered taxi ride costs us about 150,000 Rp.

We were a little lost when we arrived at Sanur Beach.
However, as we walked down the stretch next to the beach, we found the fast boat tentages.
There were many companies available with varied departure times.
Our guest house in Nusa Penida booked our return fast boat tickets (Crown) for us
at 400,000 Rp each.
This is in fact the domestic price and foreigners will need to pay more if they purchase it
on site without the help of a local.

Other than fast boat tickets, some companies were selling tour packages as well.
However, the prices were steep and we weren't willing to pay.
We eventually got help from our guest house to book a driver at 700,000 Rp for two pax.

When it was time to board our fast boat, we proceeded to the beach and removed our footwear.
This is because to get to the boat, we had to waddle in knee-high waters!
So, it is definitely recommended to wear shorts instead of a maxi dress or pants
as you will be soaked.
If you have luggages with you, there will be porters who will bring your luggage up for you.
We didn't as our backpacks were light.

The ride took about 45 minutes and I felt safe throughout the journey.
Upon arrival, our footwear were all nicely placed on the ground for us.
We quickly put on our footwear and took a 4 minute walk to our home for the night:
Double G Guest House

We checked in and started our West trip tour!
The road was very bumpy and narrow.
I would definitely recommend you to get a driver instead of riding a motorbike
as the road conditions were bad and there was a lack of signage too.

After an hour long ride, we finally arrived at our first destination:
Kelingking Beach!
The T-Rex was massive and the waters surrounding it were blue and crystal clear.
It was absolutely stunning and breathtaking.

Famed photo spot with the T-Rex

You could climb down to the beach and a return trip is about 1.5 hours.
However, the path down was not safe and the railings were made up of bamboos.
We didn't climb down as we were not wearing proper footwear.
But I will definitely climb down if I get another chance to visit this place again!

There was another viewpoint on the right of the T-Rex.
Our driver brought us there and we could see the beach from this angle.

We then went back to the car to move on to our next location:
Angel's Billabong and Broken Beach

Our driver directed us to the sights when we arrived and off we went, exploring on our own!
Loved the fact that the driver didn't tag along even though most of the drivers do
accompany their guests when they explore too.

After a few steep steps down, we arrived at Angel's Billabong, a natural infinity pool.
As it was high tide and the waves kept crashing in, no one went into the waters.
The waters were crystal clear here as well and we could see what lies in the waters.

Angel's Billabong

We continued to make our way to Broken Beach.
I was in awe when we arrived.
Such a beauty!

Broken Beach

We walked around Broken Beach and deviated to the left of the beach.
We were once again greeted by gorgeous views of the cliffs with crashing waves.

It was lunchtime and our driver brought us to a little restaurant which was a
10 minutes' drive away from our last destination: Crystal Bay.

Nasi Goreng
To my surprise, the Nasi Goreng was really good and I finished everything on the plate.
This costs 40,000 Rp and the portion was generous.

We arrived at Crystal Bay after lunch.
Initially we planned for Raja Lima, but it is located on the other side of the island
and it will cost us 1,500,000 Rp if we packed it in our itinerary.
So we decided to stick with the usual 4 sights.

Crystal Bay

We just chilled at the beach, drinking Bintang and people watching.
There wasn't much to do at Crystal Bay as we couldn't swim or go snorkelling.

Sunset at Toya Pakeh
The day ended with a beautiful sunset by the beach at Toya Pakeh (:
