Sydney 2019 Day 7: Bondi Beach & Sydney CBD

DAY 7: 23 JUN 2019
Bondi Iceberg Rock Pool
It's time to return to Sydney.
We left at 8am this morning as we have to return the car at 10am.
The drive back to our hotel in Sydney took about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Michelle alighted at our hotel first and took our bags so that we do not need to lug
them back after returning the car.

The drive to the car rental drop off was supposed to only take 10 minutes.
However, our GPS screwed up and brought us to the highway.
After a few tries, we finally arrived at the drop off, 20 minutes past 10am.

We took a 15 minutes walk back to meet with Michelle.
We couldn't check in early this time round so we left our baggage at the reception.
As it was Sunday, there was a cap of A$2.70 for transportation the entire day.
We wanted to make full use of public transporation today and so we went to Bondi beach today!

We took bus 333 to Bondi Beach using our Opal card.
After a fall and laughs, we finally arrived at the beautiful Bondi beach.
As it was lunchtime, we decided to have fish and chips at Bondi Surf Seafoods.
It was a small shop with limited seats available.
We ordered fish and chips each as well as a fried mars bar (:

Fried Mars bar
The fish and chips was as good as the one we had in Batemans Bay.
However, I'm not a fan of Mars bars and I got enough of it after a few bites.

After lunch, we strolled along the beach, stopping from time to time to play
the newly launched Wizards Unite game.
It was hilarious to see how we were more excited about the game than the beach.

We walked towards the famous rock pool and the viewpoints were packed with tourists.
One of the main attractions here is the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk.
Having done many hikes and coastal walks for the past few days,
we decided not to do the walk.
We slowly made our way back to the shopping street before heading back to Sydney CBD.

Many articles online write about the famous strawberry watermelon cake
from Black Star Pastry.
Going with the hype, we decided to try it out.

Pastries Counter at Black Star Pastry
The shop is located at the entrance of Kinokuniya Bookstore.
There are limited seatings available.
If you intend to dine in, just let the staff know and they will add your name into
the queue list and call you once a table is available.

Strawberry and Watermelon cake
Raspberry and Lychee cake
We ordered two cakes to share: Strawberry watermelon and Raspberry Lychee.
The cakes cost A$9 each.
Both cakes tasted great but I feel that the price is steep for a small slice.
So, once is enough!

After our short tea break, we walked to the Royal Botanic Gardens for our last sunset in Sydney.

For great views of both the harbour and the opera house, you can head over to
Mrs Macquarie's Chair located in the botanic gardens.
We spent some time there before making our way back to our neighbourhood.
We opted for a takeaway dinner at Mr Crackles.
I cannot remember what we ordered but every dish was awesome!
Highly recommend visiting this place as this is something different!

Gelato Messina
We decided to have some ice cream at Gelato Messina, which was a
10 minutes walk from our hotel.
This gelato place is highly recommended on tripadvisor and it is worth the hype!

And that's it for Day 7!
