Sydney 2019 Day 6: Jervis Bay, Symbio Wildlife Park & Sea Cliff Bridge

DAY 6: 22 JUN 2019
Hyams Beach at Jervis Bay
 Good morning!
It was our last day along the coast before we head back to the bustling city of Sydney.

We bought cheese from ABC Cheese Factory yesterday and we had it together
with plain crackers for breakfast.
Then off we went to Hyams beach!

The drive was 1.5 hours long and we managed to find a carpark at the end of
Bayview Avenue, which was also right next to the path to the beach.
We parked for free as usual and headed straight for the beach.

Hyams beach is one of the beaches with the whitest sand in the world.
It is a hot spot for tourists in summer as many will come to surf or swim in the waters.
There were only a handful of people when we arrived at the beach.

Families started to arrive after some time.
It was getting a little crowded and we have already spent some time there.
It was time to head for some pies at Huskisson bakery and cafe!

It was a short drive to Huskisson and the town was bustling with people.
While walking to the cafe, we passed a few shops selling whale watching tours.
We decided to book a whale watching tour on our last day in Sydney
as we had other plans today.

The pies at the cafe were really good!
Definitely better than the ones we ate at Tilba Tilba.
We had some coffee to go with the pies too.

After our simple lunch, we drove to Symbio Wildlife Park!
The drive took about 1 hour and 45 minutes and we arrived at around 2.30pm.
The park opens daily from 9.30am to 5pm.
An adult ticket costs A$36 and we purchased 3 bags of kangaroo feed for A$5.

The park was slightly bigger than the one that I went in Melbourne.
This park also has an interactive programme called encounters.
You can get up close and personal with animals of your choice with an extra charge.

Meerkat encounters
Kids will definitely love the encounters as you get to interact with the animals
for quite some time and trainers will be there to ensure you get the most out of your experience.
Not forgetting the wonderful photo opportunities they plan for you.

Koala presentation
At 3pm, we headed to the koala enclosure for a presentation.
Thereafter, we paid to have our photos with the koalas and get a chance to pet them!
The koalas were so fluffy but their furs were rougher than expected.
But they were really cute!

After our time with the koalas, we headed to the kangaroo enclosure.

Like most wildlife parks in Australia, we got a chance to pet and feed the kangaroos and wallabies!
As I did this in Melbourne previously, I confidently approached a kangaroo.
I remembered being scared and chose a wallaby during my visit in Melbourne.

We spent quite some time with the kangaroos and finished our feed within 30 minutes.
We bad farewell to the kangaroos and explored the other parts of the park.
There were many Australian native animals at the park such as wombats and dingoes.
Overall, it was a nice experience and you should visit a wildlife park if you are in Australia!

We left the wildlife park at 5pm and drove to the famous sea cliff bridge for sunset.
We saw cars parked along the roadside and followed suit.
There are pedestrian paths along the side of the bridge so it was safe.

Sea Cliff Bridge

It was time to check in to our accomodation located in Wollongong:
The hotel was more like a motel to me.
But nevertheless, the room was clean and we had a peaceful sleep that night.

Upon checking in, we decided to take a short drive to Outback Steakhouse for dinner.
This was my very first time at Outback...

We ordered steaks and bloomin onion to share.
The food was really good and I very much enjoyed the bloomin onion!
What a great way to end our road trip.

As it was our last night with our rental car, we decided to purchase all our snacks
from Woolworths after dinner.
Great decision as we did not need to lug all of it on our own in Sydney.

Cadbury section in Woolworths
I bought Cadbury chocolates, Arnott's Shape biscuits and Tim Tam.
The vegemite shape biscuits were awesome but unfortunately, I only bought a box home.
The Tim Tam flavours were way better than the ones they had a few years ago.
We purchased a bottle of dessert wine for less than A$10 from Liqourland too!

Happy with our purchases, we drove back to our hotel and packed everything into our luggage.
I didn't have much difficulty packing everything in whereas for Michelle...
she bought loads of things from K-Mart and Woolworths.
It was hilarious seeing her in distress but she fitted everything into her bags after 30 minutes.

And to end our last road trip day, we drank the dessert wine we bought (:

That's it for Day 6!
