Sydney 2019 Day 1: Sydney CBD

DAY 1: 17 JUN 2019

Another trip with the girls this year!
Sydney was chosen as we wanted something different from our
usual budget adventurous trips.

Michelle and I booked via Emirates and our return flight costs S$640 per pax.
However, our flights were code shared with Qantas and we took the Qantas
flight to Sydney.
The flight was not full and I got 2 seats to myself which was great!

We arrived at Kingsford Smith Airport at around 7am.
Prior to your visit to Australia, you must remember to apply for an e-visa online!
I applied via the same agent I found on hardwarezone forum and it costs S$7 per visa.
Immigration was smooth and we were out within an hour.
There were many telco booths at the arrival halls and you can easily get one when you arrive.
I personally prefer Optus or Vodafone as they have better connections outside of the cities.

From the airport, we took the T8 Airport Line to Museum station.
The ride costs A$17.38 and we arrived at our destination within 20 minutes.
Cambridge Hotel Sydney was our base in Sydney CBD.
It is a 10 minutes' walk from Museum station and a 15 minutes' walk to our car rental
company at Darlinghurst.

After checking in, we decided to have brunch at Basket Brothers.

The cafe is beautifully decorated and the food was good too!
A cup of coffee is a must in Aussie!

As it was raining, we decided to do some shopping while waiting for Amanda to arrive.
From Basket Brothers, we took a 15 minutes' walk to the main shopping district,
where Queen Victoria Building and other shopping arcades are located.
There were many major international brands located in the malls and I managed
to get a pair of block tech pants from Uniqlo at A$49 which is cheaper than the retail
price in Singapore or Malaysia.

We took a short break back at the hotel and met up with Amanda who arrived
later in the afternoon.
We then walked to Circular Quay which is one of the best spots to view the Opera House
and the Sydney harbour bridge.

It was dinner time and we decided to dine at Pancakes on the Rocks.

Honestly, the place is over-hyped as there is nothing fantastic about the food.
If you are looking for a place with good food, you probably should skip this.
However, this place definitely caters to families and large groups as the menu has a wide
selection to choose from.

That marks the end of our first day in Sydney!
