Grad Trip Day 10: Mostar, BiH

DAY 10: 28 MAY 2014
It's time to bid farewell to Turkey!
I really enjoyed my time there and I will definitely return to
explore more cities in Turkey, especially the coastal regions.

Michelle and I flew into Sarajevo via Pegasus airlines.
The flight arrangement was such that there will be a 5 hour stopover at
Istanbul SAW airport, and so Michelle and I decided to book two separate
journeys: DNZ - SAW and SAW - SJJ.
By doing so, we only paid S$137 to get to Sarajevo!

We landed in Sarajevo at around 3.15pm and soon met up with our host who
was also the driver for our private transfer to Mostar.
Our initial plans were to take a cab to the main railway station in Sarajevo
and then take a train to Mostar.
Although the train ride is known to be very scenic, we decided to book the
transfer so as to allow for more leisure time in Mostar.
Scenic view of Bosnia
Our host brought us to a little diner for lunch, which is famous for its cevapcici.
Cevapcici is a grilled dish of minced meat, originated from the Balkans.
I didn't manage to capture a photo of it, but it is a must-eat when you are in Bosnia!

Our accomodation for the night is Hostel Dino, which is situated between
the railway station and old town.
After we deposited our baggage, we decided to explore old town!
Old Town of Mostar
Stari Most from afar
Stari Most, also known as the old bridge, is a reconstruction of the 16th Century
Ottoman bridge that crosses Neretva river and connects two parts of the city.
The old bridge area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well.
Little quaint shops
Many little shops operate along the streets in old town.
Pebble streets were often sighted when we were exploring this area too.
Famous cliff diving site
We finally arrived at Stari Most, and the surrounding scenery was just lovely.
The Stari Most is also a famous cliff diving site for the adrenaline junkies.
Everyday, there will be at least a handful of people diving off the bridge.
Sadly I didn't get to see it happening because we left for Dubrovnik
the following morning.
I wished I could have caught a glimpse of it though!

We continued to explore the area on the other side of the bridge before it got dark.
As it was just the two of us and there weren't any Asian tourists around,
we decided to have dinner and return to the hostel for an early rest!

And this also marks the end of our time in Bosnia.
I would have loved to stay for another day for white water rafting.
However, we were on a tight schedule and had to give it a miss.
Hopefully I will have another chance to be back!
