Europe 2013 Day 10: Murano - Burano - Torcello, Italy

DAY 10: 22 MAY 2013
The plan for the day was mainly to visit the little islands situated near Venice.
But before that, we had to satisfy our cravings for ice cream or chocolate by visiting
the ice cream shop we patronised the previous day, Grom.
For 2.50 euros, i get to choose two different flavours.
I chose hazelnut and dark chocolate, as these two are my favourite ice cream
flavours in Italy!
After satisfying our cravings, we headed off to board the water taxi to Murano.
We purchased a twelve hour pass which allows us to take any public transport,
water taxi, buses etc, and costs 18 euros.
It activates the first time you use the card and is valid for twelve hours.
Each water taxi ride costs 8 euros, and the twelve hour pass is definitely worth it for us
since we used the water taxi five times!

Murano is famous for its glass products.
There are many glass workshops on this island, and some of them offer
free viewing of glass making in the factory.

After wandering around Murano aimlessly, we set off for our next island,
coincidentally our favourite island, Burano.

Burano is famous of its colourful houses and lace.
We definitely loved the colourful houses since every shot was photographed prettily.

Isn't Burano pretty?
I really enjoyed my time there, even though my feet started hurting from all
the walking throughout the week.

We visited Torcello right after Burano.
Basically, Torcello doesn't have anything interesting to look out for.
That explains why we spent the least time out of the three islands.

We then headed back to Venice for a quick dinner at Alfredo's Fresh Pasta To Go.
For just 7 euros and excellent customer service, it was definitely an enjoyable dinner.
It is a takeaway shop with limited dine-in seats, and so you can also find a bench or
sit by the canal and enjoy your pasta.
I ordered the meatball fettuccine and it tasted so good!

It was 8.30pm by the time we left Alfredo's, and the sun was just about to set.
As my feet were really tired, we took the water taxi back to the main station
instead of doing a thirty minute walk.
The whole ride back took around forty-five minutes, but it was a lovely ride back,
with the sun setting right behind us.

Venice is such a unique Italian city and it is definitely one of my favourites
out of the whole trip to Europe.
It is definitely sinking, and so everyone should visit Venice before
it officially disappears into the waters!
