Taiwan 2017 Day 7 & 8: Miyahara & Yizhong Street Night Market

DAY 7: 12 DEC 2017
Miyahara
Good morning!
We were supposed to wake up earlier to catch the sunrise.
But...having been sick the entire day yesterday, I think having more rest is of utmost importance.

We got up at 7am and I felt better as compared to last night.
I went out to the balcony and was instantly rewarded by the view in front of my eyes.
View from our balcony
Isn't this stunning!
It was raining last night but it was all good in the morning.

We had breakfast at 8am and proceeded to check out as I booked the 9am shuttle
back to Taichung.
I regreted not booking the 1.30pm slot though as we could have just wandered around
the area a little longer.
View down the mountainous road
We arrived back at Taichung railway station at 11am and we walked back to
Chance Hotel to store our day bags before heading out for lunch.
We settled for Chun Shui Tang which is the original creators of bubble tea.
There were several branches in Taichung and we went to the outlet located in Taroko mall.
As it was off peak, we were given a 15% off our food bill.
We ordered the glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaves, Thai style chicken and
a plate of vegetables to share amongst the three of us.
I ordered a cup of hot lemon black tea with less sugar because I couldn't take any dairy :(
I had a sip of my mum's bubble tea and it was less milky and more lightweight
as compared to Koi and Gongcha.

After lunch, we visited the shops there.
Muji, Daiso, Tomod's, H&M and Uniqlo were some of the shops available.
I managed to get the My Beauty Diary masks at Tomod's!
They were going for 2 for NT 419 which was the exact same promotion
that was ongoing in Taipei's Watson's outlets.

Next, we headed to Miyahara for some awesome ice cream.
Miyahara was just a 4 minutes walk from our hotel.
The space used to be an ophthalmology clinic, but now it has turned into a famous
retail shop selling a wide array of products: pastries, tea and ice cream

The ice cream stall is located on the other end and a single scoop costs NT 90
while a double scoop costs NT 160.
There are so many flavours to choose from. There are 3 sections in total with
an entire section dedicated to only chocolate!
We decided on a double scoop (100% chocolate and lychee) and it came with 2 toppings.
The cheesecake is good and we had that yesterday.
We decided to take the rum raisin and pineapple cake.
We decided not to go for the biscuit bowl as we were full and it will be a waste
if we didn't finish it.
The ice cream was rich and the scoop was way bigger than what we usually have in Singapore.
Do make a trip down to Miyahara if you happen to be in Taichung!

That evening, we decided to explore Yizhong Street night market.
This night market is smaller compared to Fengjia night market.
We took a bus there and our ride was free as the distance was less than 10 km.
Fried Chicken Cutlet
There wasn't much to offer there.
We had:
Gyoza
Fried Chicken Cutlet
Takoyaki with wasabi sauce

We proceeded to walk around the streets and visited a nearby mall.
As everything pretty much was the same everywhere we went,
we decided to take a bus back to our hotel and had an early night's rest.

DAY 8: 13 DEC 2017

It's time to go home!
Our flight departs from Taoyuan airport at 10.45am and we had to get up really
early to get to the airport.
As I was afraid that it would be difficult and expensive to get a cab early in the morning,
I decided to take the HSR instead.
I booked our tickets on the official HSR website as they were having early bird sales.
The process was easy and just note that for the passport number,
you should key in your passport number followed by your birth date (DDMM)
as the system requires the last digit to be a number.
Our ticket to Taoyuan HSR costs NT 350 per person which was after 35% off.
I seeked the help of the cashier at Family Mart to collect our HSR tickets.
Do not that there is a service charge of NT 10 per ticket.

Upon arrival at Taoyuan HSR, you could either take the Taoyuan airport MRT or the bus.
We decided to try out the bus since we have taken the train.
The bus left the station really quickly as we were the only passengers.
This bus route may probably be removed in future due to the convenience of the MRT.

That marks the end of our adventures in Taiwan!
A lovely country which you should definitely visit if you have yet to.
I doubt I will visit Taiwan anytime soon as I have many new destinations I would like to explore.
Shall dream about my next destination (:
Till then!
